Revolution fabrics are true performance fabrics woven with 100% Olefin yarn, a Nobel prize winning fiber. These fabrics are inherently stain resistant, anti-microbial, exceptionally durable and light fast, (resistant to fading) yet soft to the touch. They wick away moisture, will not fuzz or pill, are 100% recyclable, and have no chemical treatments.
Smallest carbon Footprint
Olefin production uses the least energy to produce of any fiber, has the smallest carbon footprint, and no harmful industrial waste is produced in the process. There is also no waste water produced in the solution dye process; unlike traditional dying that produces large quantities of waste water.
Recyclable
Revolution Fabrics are 100% recyclable, and the fiber can be re-extruded up to 10 times.
Stain resistance and Cleanability
Revolution Fabrics are woven using solution dyed Olefin. In the solution dye process pigment is added to the fiber while the Olefin is in a liquid state. This is the only way to dye Olefin, because the fiber is inert and will not dye or stain in its natural state.
A good analogy for a solution dyed yarn is a carrot; when you cut the carrot, it is orange all the way through. Normal packaged dyed yarn is like a radish; the color is on the outside. This makes Revolution Fabrics very easy to clean using soap and water, common household cleaners and even diluted bleach. Stains should be spot cleaned, rinsed lightly with water, and air dried.
These stain resistant properties are inherent an will last for the life to the fabric. Most performance fabrics rely on chemical after treatments for cleanability. The safety of these chemicals is being questioned in both Europe and the US, and these chemicals will wear off over time. Revolution Fabrics use NO CHEMICAL AFTER TREATMENTS of any kind, so no potentially dangerous chemicals will ever be transferred to people or pets.
Testing
Revolution Fabrics meet or exceed ALL applicable upholstery standards. These include abrasion, seam slippage, tensile strength, light fatness, color fastness and pass all the latest state and federal FR standards: Cal 117 and UFAC 1, with NO CHEMICAL additives. Revolution Fabrics have the best “lot to lot” color consistency of any fabric available today.
Resistance To Fading Revolution Fabrics are rated for over 300 hours of light fastness: for exceeding the 40 hours standard for indoor residential and commercial use.
Pilling And Fuzzing
Unlike acrylic and spun polyester, which are very prone to pilling and fuzzing, Revolution Fabrics will not fuzz or pill under normal conditions because they are made with 100% continuous filament yarns. These yarns create fabrics that are both exceptionally durable and soft at the same time.
Water Repellency
Olefin absorbs no more than .01% of water by weight. That is why Olefin is used extensively in performance apparel. Revolution Fabrics wick moisture away so the fabric and cushion can easily be cleaned, unlike chemical treatments the repel water.
