The difference between wicker furniture and rattan furniture.

Rattan furniture is made from rattan pole. It's outer skin is peeled and used to make rattan peel, a form of wicker. The poles are separated according to size and then used to produce furniture. The thicker parts are used for areas requiring more strength and the thinner parts are woven to create a wide variety of intricate designs. Pound for pound, rattan is one of the strongest woods on earth.

Indoor wicker  is made from a variety of materials (which include willow, straw, rush, grasses, banana leaf) which are usually woven over and between a rattan frame. In fact, most indoor wicker  furniture is a combination of wicker and rattan materials.
